This courseis designed for horse owners, riders, and equine professionals who want to better understand their horse’s needs in order to recognise potential behavioural and health problems at an early stage.

This course provides a comprehensive entry level education based on the latest science and understanding which is essential for every rider and horse carer. It can form a ‘springboard’ for more in depth specialised subject courses. The focus of ‘Know your Horse’ is observing and interpreting equine behaviour and understanding the behavioural and physiological needs of your horse. This will allow you to achieve the best possible conditions for horses to thrive. The course also teaches how to understand some biology basics and how to recognise and evaluate problems. This will help you to find appropriate solutions and to recognise when to involve expert advice of your horse care team. Within all sections practical exercises help to apply the newly acquired knowledge.

Modules underpin theoretical knowledge of equine behaviour, physiology and nutrition, while practical assignments support the application of this knowledge in horse management. The course forms a solid foundation for anyone looking to improve horse welfare through evidence-based and informed decision making.
