David van Doorn obtained a bachelor degree in animal husbandry from the School for Higher Agricultural Education (Delft, 1998). In 2000, he obtained a master degree in Animal Science from Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR). In 2001 he started working part-time for a private equine feed & supplement company. In 2001 he also started his PhD-project entitled “Equine phosphorus absorption and excretion” at the Nutrition Department of Utrecht University (NL). After his PhD defense in 2003, he continued working in the equine nutrition business. David is also responsible for the organization of the “European Equine Health & Nutrition Congress". Since 2010, David is an (part-time) assistant professor in equine nutrition at the Nutrition Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University (UU), part of the Centre of Animal Nutrition (WUR). Further, David has been involved in projects of the Utrecht University Library related to the preservation of equine veterinary patrimony. David’s current research interest includes macro mineral absorption, digestibility markers nutraceuticals but his future university work within the Centre of Animal Nutrition will focus on "Feeding strategies for gastrointestinal health". In 2013 David started working part-time as an Equine Nutrition Consultant and developed the ANIVADO platform.
