Know Your Horse provides a structured introduction to understanding equine behaviour, physiology, nutrition, and welfare. This courseis designed for horse owners, riders, and equine professionals who want to better understand their horse’s needs in order to recognise potential behavioural and health problems at an early stage.

The course focusses on the natural behaviour of the horse and how this translates to modern management systems. By combining scientific knowledge with practical observation exercises, participants learn how to evaluate their horse’s welfare, identify potential problems and apply appropriate solutions, either on their own or with the help of experts.

Modules underpin theoretical knowledge of equine behaviour, physiology and nutrition, while practical assignments support the application of this knowledge in horse management. The course forms a solid foundation for anyone looking to improve horse welfare through evidence-based and informed decision making.

The modules of this course include: The Nature of the Horse, Physiological Needs of the Horse, A Horse’s Diet, Basic Introduction to Ethology, Management Systems and Welfare, and Applied Management for Your Horse.
